What Causes Anxiety: Anxiety is not something that just “happens”. It is something that is caused by a number of different things, such as genetics, brain chemistry, and other external factors. It helps to determine what is causing an individual’s anxiety in the first place, and then to figure out how to eliminate the trigger (or triggers) that cause the person to experience the anxiety. By eliminating the source, a sufferer of anxiety can often feel better in a very short period of time. Some common therapy therapies used to treat anxiety disorders include cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and different types of relaxation techniques.

What Are Anxiety Disorders? Severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD affects about 2 percent of adults nationwide. GAD is defined as excessive worry and anxiety over a wide variety of matters, including work, school, and other daily activities. Two percent of adults experience a combination of symptoms, which can also include auras, panic attacks, muscle tension, and dizziness. A physical exam must be done to confirm a diagnosis.

What Are Anxiety Disorders? When Does Generalized Anxiety Disorder arise? An individual experiences excessive worry or anxiousness over a wide variety of things that usually does not cause him or her any physical symptoms whatsoever. A common trigger for this disorder may occur when a person has a history of abuse, financial problems, or sudden changes in routine, or even during times of high stress. A physical reaction to an upcoming event can trigger an attack, which is why it is so important to identify triggers and avoid them as much as possible.
